ActiveGanttVBA Gantt Chart / Scheduler Component Documentation

The ActiveGanttVBA Gantt Chart / Scheduler Component is an ASP.NET Web Server Control compiled and built with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (100% managed code). Can be used with any .Net language including C#, Visual Basic .Net, J#, managed C and many others. The demo includes on-line programmer's documentation and a demo project in Visual Basic .NET. This control requires Visual Studio .Net or the Net Framework and IIS 5.0 or greater to be installed on the Server. It is a Web Server Control and therefore does not require any runtimes to be installed on the client. One of its greatest advantages is that it is compatible with virtually all browsers in any operating system. One of its major drawbacks is that unlike the ActiveGanttVB, ActiveGanttVC, ActiveGanttCSN, ActiveGanttVBN or ActiveGanttVBE it is static, users cannot move the objects in the control, or add objects via the user interface. The control also only handles a subset of the events generated by other "Dynamic" ActiveGantt controls. It can nevertheless integrate seamlessly with the "Dynamic" controls on a web page. Its intended use is for programmers that are developing ASP.NET web applications in Visual Basic .NET. This control is also Microsoft Project 2003, 2007 and 2010 compatible. 2011.9.27 :: Gantt Chart - Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Project Management Example. This Access 2003 database driven example demonstrates how to use the Gantt Chart control to display a project management application with a treeview on the left side. Major branches of the treeview can be expanded or collapsed. Tasks that comprise the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) can be resized and, if so desired, converted into milestones by setting the task start date equal to the end date. Summary elements are resized automatically according to the work breakdown structure task changes. Percent complete bars can also be resized using the user interface, and this also affects the summary elements indicating the overall status of the schedule. Predecessor relationships can be established between tasks, in four different ways: Finish-to-Start, Start-To-Finish, Finish-To-Finish, and Start-To-Start. Tooltips in this example are highly customized, and when the cursor hovers over a task or milestone, the start and finish dates are displayed, along with the icon, percent-complete and caption of the WBS or summary element. The time line is custom drawn using the CustomTierDraw event and the styles for task and percentage objects are drawn using hatch patterns. Tasks can be highlighted in blue by clicking on the corresponding check box in the treeview.

2011.9.27 :: Schedule / Roster - Vehicle Rental / Fleet Control Example. This example shows how to create a schedule or roster using the ActiveGantt Gantt Chart control. It is bound at the back end by an Access 2003 database. The ActiveGantt control is in grid mode with a two level hierarchy between branches and cars, and branches can be collapsed or expanded as needed. The grid is subdivided into cells and the second cell has it's image property set to the color and type of vehicle. Rental costs are calculated in real time by using time data extracted from the ActiveGantt Gantt chart control, other costs are fixed. Cars and branches can be edited, and cars can be reassigned to another branch. A task can be a reservation, an actual rental or outside the fleet for maintenance. Non-conflicting and recurring TimeBlock objects are used to highlight weekends. It illustrates an alternative way to use views on the Gantt Chart's time line, and how to zoom in or out of these views.
